MATERIAL - ZnSe (Zinc Selenide) CVD


Crystaltechno Ltd. manufactures spherical plano-convex lenses from fused silica, glass and different types of optical crystals, including ZnSe (Zinc Selenide) CVD.

ZnSe (Zinc Selenide) spherical plano-convex lenses are widely used as focusing transfer optics.

We produce two kinds of Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) CVD material, which differ in spectral transmittance and grain size, namely

  • Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) CVD laser grade, grain size (50-70) microns, index of absorption 0.0005 cm-1 at 10.6 microns, optical component dimensions (3 - 100) mm, thickness 20mm, used in high power CO2 laser optics, in medical applications.
  • Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) CVD IR optical grade, grain size (20-100) microns, index of absorption 0.003 cm-1 at 10.6 microns, optical component dimensions (3 - 300) mm, thickness 20mm, used in protective windows and thermal imaging equipment, in industrial applications.
You can see both spectral transmittance of laser grade and IR optical grade uncoated polished windows (thickness 2 mm).

Because of high refractive index (n=2.4 at 10.6 microns), Fresnel losses of ZnSe polished surface are equal 17% (at one side), thus the transmission of Zinc Selenide polished window equals 68.9% at 10.6 micron. We offer two sides antireflection (AR/AR) coating both for one wavelength (10.6 microns or another) and for the spectral range (3 - 12) microns. Transmission of AR/AR coated Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) window - up to 99%.
